Protests by local residents against concerts in Braník: Prague will address the noise decree
The draft noise decree was prepared by councilor Hana Marvanová (for STAN), but the city council did not approve it and was presented at the council meeting by the chairman of the YES opposition movement club, Ondřej Prokop. The adopted resolution takes note of the existence of the proposal and asks the Council to it approved it and sent the decree to the so-called accelerated approval procedure. It takes 15 days. Eventually, the council will have to vote on it again.
After more than an hour of discussion, Councilor for Culture Hana Třeštíková (Prague to Herself) said that the proposed decree was already being discussed by the municipality and that she hoped that concert organizers meet noise requirements and no restrictions will be needed. However, according to city officials, it will be possible to prepare the decree so that it can be submitted to the June council.
The residents of Braník complained about the noise at the meeting and that you could not open the windows in the apartments, because in addition to the evening productions, there are also sound tests during the day, so it is basically permanent in the summer. “The quiet location that Braník used to be, the cease to be, “ said one of the residents. “I walk, I hit the walls slowly and I just swear,” said another. Another complained that the noise was, “as if thermobaric bombs were falling on Mariupol.”
Representatives of the concert organizers said that they were taking various steps to reduce them, such as reducing the number of events, ending them earlier or improving the technical settings of the noise of the cameras.
Marvanová’s proposal envisages that events with a capacity of over 200 could be held in Braník only five days a month and only on three consecutive days, with the proviso that in such a case it would be necessary to observe a break until the next event lasting ten days. . Concerts should be held from 08:00 to 21:00, on Fridays, weekends and summer holidays from 9:00 to 22:00.
