A newspaper in Arabic, produced in Toulouse, will be available in newsstands and in several bookstores next month, promises its founder Salim Benabderrahmane who wants to “develop the Arabic language and culture”.
For ten years now in Toulouse, Salim Benabderrahmane, a 37-year-old Franco-Algerian, has been promoting on local airwaves (Booster FM and Radio FMR) “the development of the Arabic language and culture”.
Next month, he takes a leap and goes from videos on Youtube to the publication of his first diary “Retour Arabe”. The monthly intends to deal with local but also international information. Before that, it was necessary to find points of sale in Toulouse: a dozen kiosks, assures the journalist, and bookstores including Ombres Blanches, rue Léon Gambetta.
A 12-page journal
“It’s a twelve-page newspaper, four of which are in color,” explains Salim Benabderrahmane. For one euro, people could get information in Arabic, some articles will be in French and others in Occitan. »
At first and for lack of hiring journalists, he will take care entirely of the writing, like his fifteen-minute video, visible on Youtube, during the rally for Ukraine, two months ago, Capitol Square. The report mixes French and Arabic. A new format in Toulouse and probably in France, he likes to redirect.
He also calls himself the champion of a “very beautiful” language. “Through many activities, I show and make discover this civilization, assures Salim. After a personal journey through the world and through the spirit of Toulouse, several activities have resulted from these experiences. Whether it was during a weekly language café in the city center, at the Ombres Blanches bookstore and then at the Blastodize, or the Forom des Langues which was also a great place for exchanges with the public. The boss of “Retour Arabe” indicates that the newspaper will have a stand at the next Language Forum, on June 19, in Toulouse.
