Lisbon Chamber ensures validation of the honorability of the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal
The Lisbon Chamber assured this Thursday that the honor of the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal was validated with the Ukrainian Embassy and the High Commissioner for Migration, considering “a fratricidal war” as criticisms of the organization Ukrainian Refugees.
“The Chamber spoke with the Embassy about the Honorability of the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal, the ACM [Alto Comissariado para as Migrações] also validated, and referenced”said the councilor for Human and Social Rights, Laurinda Alves (elected independently by the PSD/CDS-PP/MPT/PPM/Aliança coalition).
In a meeting at the Lisbon Municipal Assembly, at a time when questions were asked to the Chamber, PS municipal deputy Miguel Belo Marques questioned the public position taken by the organization Ukrainian Refugees (UAPT) in relation to the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal, in which “denounces the connection to the Ukrainian extreme right on the part of its president Pavlo Sadokha, insinuating that part of the support he receives is sent to Russia or the Russian army, giving the example of the case of tuna cans, captured from Russian soldiers, and that this association will be used from Lisbon”.

Answering that “yes”, that the council has already made these contacts, councilor Laurinda Alves said that, two weeks before the UAPT’s public position was circulated, the executive questioned the organization about what was necessary, but “there was never a response” and, later, when the need for a space was pointed out, an appointment was made to go and see one, but they missed it.
Laurinda Alves considered that critics of the UAPT about the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal are being considered as “a fratricidal war”, ensuring that the “completely available to help all Ukrainians on the ground to do a great job”, for which they will be established new protocols in this area.
The protocol with the Association of Ukrainians was authorized within the scope of Portugal’s integrated initiatives for refugees from Ukraine, “VSI TUT — Todos Aqui” “to guarantee the refugees from Ukraine, referred by the ACM and who intend to settle in the municipality of Lisbon, immediate social support, right in the initial phase of reception and integration”providing 2 thousand euros of preparation for a new space, serving the Fund to support families in need of 290 thousand euros in 290 thousand euros in new space, serving the Fund to support families.
