László Papp spoke about the economic development of Debrecen in Oradea
Debrecen – An economic meeting was held in Oradea within the framework of Festum Varadinum. László Papp presented Debrecen as the new economic center of the Central European region.
The Mayor of Debrecen, accompanied by Andrea Telegdi, Foreign Economic Attaché, Member of Parliament Ödön Szabó, took part in an economic conference at the Roman Catholic Episcopal Palace. In his presentation, László Papp said that in recent years Debrecen and Oradea have been working closely together to create Festum Varadinum. And although it is basically a series of cultural events, the economy can also appear within its framework.
László Papp emphasized that it is also expedient to deal with the affairs of the economy because we are experiencing an exciting period and facing it. After the coronavirus epidemic, the Russo-Ukrainian war overshadows everyday life in Europe – and this is affecting economic life.
“The future may look bleak, but I see it differently from Debrecen, as the city of Civis is the new economic center of the Central European region,” the mayor said. He added that this is no longer a dream, but is becoming more and more a part of our everyday lives.
There is also a close connection between Debrecen and Oradea for historical reasons, which will be able to determine the future, as we “live in each other’s area of attraction”. Debrecen is able to represent and address three million communities – and that means a lot of opportunities.
László Papp mentioned as an example that Debrecen will be in the top 10 of the Financial Times’ global competitiveness title in 2021, which is a huge achievement from a Hungarian city of two hundred thousand. Debrecen has become visible on the map.
– Compared to the 150 hectares of industrial area in 2015, today its size is larger than 1,800 hectares in Debrecen. The majority of the area already has an investor – said László Papp.
The mayor emphasized that they think in a structured way, as they not only develop an industrial area, but also build an organization behind the economic development processes. The EDC Debrecen City and Economic Development Center is available to investors from 0 am to midnight.
László Papp pointed out: by 2025, Debrecen will have an investor for every square meter intended for an industrial area.
