Government spokesman: Carries out the largest humanitarian operation in the history of Hungary
Hungary is carrying out the largest humanitarian operation in its history to help those fleeing Ukraine, a government spokesman said in a video statement released to the public on Thursday.
“We do not want to drift into this conflict, but we will give all help to those who are now being forced to flee.”Alexandra Szentkirályi said in the video. He added that more than 726,000 people had already fled through Hungary before the war.
Said:
the war has been going on in our neighborhood for 90 days, and the government made it clear at the first minute of the conflict that the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people was first.
Only, he continued, will the government provide all necessary assistance to refugees, be it medical care or the schooling of children.
In the care of refugees, not only the state administration bodies and authorities, but also the local governments are on the front line from the very first moment, he added.
Therefore, the government has so far provided more than HUF 771 million in support to the municipalities involved in the accommodation of refugees, he explained. “The government remains on the side of peace”Alexandra Szentkirályi finally said.
