Florence, Cucinelli heard as witnesses in the Duchini trial
The fashion entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli was heard as a witness by the court of Florence in the corruption trial in which, among others, the former deputy prosecutor of Perugia, Antonella Duchini, is accused. Cucinelli was asked for information on a loan promised and never granted to a friend, Giuseppe Colaiacovo, which was allegedly damaged by the accused.
“I was ready to deliver, to make a 10 million euro loan to help Giuseppe Colaiacovo solve some financial problems of his companies, at least to buffer the urgent needs in the short term – said the entrepreneur – but when our head of company security, a retired former carabiniere, told us that two carabinieri friends of his had warned him to stay away from Giuseppe Colaiacovo and we decided not to make the loan “.
The trial resulted from an investigation by magistrates Luca Turco and Leopoldo De Gregorio of the Florence prosecutor’s office on episodes that took place between 2015 and 2018 in Perugia. Crimes of corruption, disclosure of office suspects, embezzlement, abuse of office have been challenged for various reasons. Among the various accusations against Duchini reconstructed in the investigations by the Florentine prosecutor is that he had damaged the entrepreneur Giuseppe Colaiacovo to benefit another member of the Perugian industrial dynasty of cement, Carlo Colaiacovo, also accused in the trial. In addition to Duchini, the carabinieri Orazio Gisabella, Costanzo Leone and Fabio Sinato are also at the bar, other defendants are Valentino Rizzuto, Pietro Gigliotti and Ignazio Pusateri.
