your ideas for making the Principality more attractive
More transport, more attractive rents, sports complexes… The editorial staff of Monaco Tribune recalled your opinions on the question!
While Frédéric Genta, appointed Interministerial Delegate for Attractiveness and Digital Transition, recently looked into the issue of Monaco’s attractiveness, raising several lines of thought, some of you have put forward a few ideas.
Giulia, an employee of Italian origin, has worked for several years in Monaco. For her, even with a good salary, it is impossible to live in the Principality because of the excessively high rents. Living in Beausoleil, she goes to work by bus or by bicycle: “ I like working here, but it’s complicated if you don’t live nearby. Before, I lived in Nice, but with the train, it quickly became expensive. I think it’s best to live in the neighboring towns. It would be good to have preferential rents for employees, it would perhaps encourage people to come and work in Monaco. »
An observation relatively shared by Paul, of Monegasque nationality: “ For me, it’s fine, because I don’t pay too much for my accommodation. I don’t know if Monaco should lower rental prices, there are already a lot of us here. We cannot accommodate everyone. I have a few friends who work here, it’s true that for them it’s complicated. If you don’t live in Cap d’Ail or Roquebrune, it can quickly become difficult. We could perhaps do something for the employees, it’s true… And for the Children of the Country, too. I believe that [le Gouvernement et le Conseil national] want to make a law for them, that would be a good idea. »
For the latter, it would be necessary, in the meantime, to completely review the transport offer between Monaco and the rest of the Côte d’Azur: ” buses, trains, it’s very good, but when I see people completely crammed to go home, I say to myself that it is not possible! If the SNCF has a problem, then there is panic on board! »

And for tourists, what to do? For Alain Frappier, who replied on our Facebook page, facilitating access to the Principality would also be a first step: “ Free bus transport would be something that would delight tourists. You have to find a way to avoid an hour long car queue at the entrance to Monaco. It’s been going on for years. It discourages employees and tourists. There are many projects but nothing concrete in perspective in the immediate future. »
For one of our readers, who contacted us by private message, the leisure offer should also be reinforced… provided that the means are put in place: “ What is missing in Monaco for a country that loves sport, it would be a beautiful complex where we would work an arena for sport (basketball), a mega stage for its concerts and other activities, redo the marquee of Fontvieille more modern and bigger so that this place becomes a multi-activity place for the population, fans and tourists. »
What do you think of the first concerned? Philippe and Christiane have come a long way for the Ascension weekend, and more particularly for the F1 Grand Prix. If the event itself was enough to make them travel several kilometres, they accept that this trip represents a sacred budget: “ the hotels are very expensive at the base, but in period of Grand Prix, it is even worse! That said, it’s not just in Monaco. We couldn’t find accommodation here, we bet on a hotel in Cap d’Ail and even if we booked several months in advance, it was already very expensive. It’s a pity that we can’t sleep here, directly. But hey, that’s also part of the charm, let’s say… »
