Three mayors took part in this public meeting focused on the challenges of a metro in the south-west sector of the metropolis: Talençais Emmanuel Sallaberry, Pessacais Franck Raynal and Gradignanais Michel Labardin, three elected officials located politically in the opposition ( right and center) within Bordeaux Métropole. While the organizers regretted that none of the members of the majority invited to this debate made themselves available.

“Raise the taboo”

The three city councilors spoke in turn to emphasize the “urgency” of the situation in the face of the congestion experienced by the metropolis in terms of transport and to ask, once again, that a serious and complete study be integrated into the construction of a metro. “I have supported this project since my election, indicated Emmanuel Sallaberry, because it will provide a real transport backbone and redesign the city in the light of the climate emergency. This project is financially sustainable and technically possible. He deserves better than partisan debates. »

His neighbor from Gradignan, Michel Labardin, thinks it is time to “lift the taboo of the metro to have the freedom to think again”. The relay is not taken on structuring projects and it is time to reclaim the strategy of public transport and to get out of the divisions, ”he regrets.
