The mission of the Secretary of Ciavatta to the 75th World Assembly of the WHO concluded with two important bilaterals
This morning the meeting with the Director of the European Region of the World Health Organization Dr. Hans Kluge. Yesterday, the interview with Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates. The mission of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Security Roberto Ciavatta to the 75th World Health Assembly, which is taking place in Geneva until 28 May, ended today. The Assembly, which returned to bring together in person all the delegates of the 194 WHO countries for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, yesterday re-elected its Director General, confirming with broad consensus the mandate of Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. During these days of work, there was no lack of opportunities for discussion between the San Marino delegation and those of the other countries present. In particular, yesterday, Secretary of State Roberto Ciavatta had an informal discussion with Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates. In the morning today, the Secretary of State Roberto Ciavatta then met the Director of the WHO European Region, Dr. Hans Kluge. The Secretary of State and the Regional Director talked about the management of the remaining doses of the anti Covid-19 vaccines, the participation in the meeting of the WHO States in Montenegro scheduled for next June 1st and the consequent signing of a “Technical Cooperation Agreement” precisely with the World Health Organization for the hospital and care coordination of small European countries, an initiative promoted by the Republic of San Marino. The last topic addressed during the meeting was the candidacy of San Marino and hosted the Bioethics Forum in 2024. The Director Kluge underlined the excellent collaboration with the Secretariat of State for Health and warmly congratulated the leadership of the Secretary Ciavatta both during the pandemic and for health questions that are important to the regional office, confirming the intention to sign the agreement in the next scheduled appointment in Budva.
