TOULOUSE

TER trains will be rare from Toulouse to Ascension

Sugar Mizzy May 25, 2022

A new strike by SNCF signalmen should impact TER traffic this Wednesday, May 25. And regional trains departing from Toulouse are even rarer during the Ascension Bridge due to works.

“All lines departing from Toulouse Matabiau station will be severely disrupted from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 May“, warns the SNCF. Regional express trains will be very rare during the Ascension Bridge. Buses will take over, but not 100%.

Major modernization work will be carried out over four days, and “several roads in the region will be severely disrupted on the weekend of May 26 to 29, 2022“, announces the Occitanie territorial management of SNCF Réseau.

This is the continuation of the rail infrastructure renewal and modernization program with 4 “punch” operations, and major works carried out during the Ascension Bridge.

Four “punch” operations will be organized between Toulouse and Montpellier in order to modernize the SNCF network.

• The axes Toulouse-Montauban / Agen / Cahors / Brive, and Toulouse – Mazamet / Rodez / Figeac are affected due to major works at Brive La Gaillarde station.
• All lines departing from Toulouse-Matabiau will be severely disrupted from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 May due to work in the station underground and work to connect a switch post to the traffic command post.
• The axis Narbonne-Sete is concerned from May 26 to 29 as part of the work to remove the Agde level crossing with the installation of the deck of the future railway bridge.
• The axes Toulouse – Narbonne and Carcassonne-Limoux are concerned from 26 to 29 November for the modernization works of the railway bridges and the track at Carcassonne station.

This work must mobilize 300 agents from SNCF Réseau and external companies.

SNCF Réseau has knowingly chosen to carry out this work over this interval from May 26 to 29, “between the long departures and the long returns from the Ascension Bridge, in order to limit the inconvenience for long-distance or daily travellers.“

The scale of this work not allowing the circulation of trains over this period, a limited road offer will be put in place without being able to replace all the traffic that has been removed.
