Schalke U17 coach Onur Cinel becomes assistant coach in Austria
Gelsenkirchen.
Under Ralf Rangnick, the U17 champion coach will work as an assistant in Austria’s national team in the future. Schalke remains loyal.
Schalke youth coach Onur Cinel is traveling in a future double function. In addition to his job as U17 head coach for the Royal Blues, the 36-year-old is now part of the coaching staff of the Austrian national team. As announced on Wednesday, Cinel will assist the ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick.
The football teacher should join the national team for the duration of the courses. In addition to him, the Austrian coaching team includes Lars Kornetka, Peter Perchtold, Robert Almer, Stefan Oesen and Gerhard Zallinger. Former Schalke coach Rangnick was last on the sidelines at Manchester United and officially took up his post as team boss on June 1st.
Onur Cinel has been with Schalke since 2012
“I would like to thank those responsible at FC Schalke 04 that I can carry out both tasks in the future,” Cinel is quoted as saying in a club statement. “Of course I’m happy about the request and the opportunity to work in professional football at an international level.”
Cinel has been working in various positions at Schalke’s Knappenschmiede since 2012. He celebrated what is probably his greatest success recently: the Essen native led the U17s to win the German championship at the end of an outstanding season.
In his new role, he will be on the road for the first time next weekend: On Sunday, the Austrian national team will start preparing for the upcoming international matches against Croatia, Denmark and France in the Nations League.
