Rowers from Tver conquered the podium of the Cup of the Republic of Belarus

May 23 – 26 in the city of Zaslavl open republican competitions Cup of the Republic of Belarus in rowing and canoeing are held. Competition for the hosts on the rowing canal of the Center for Olympic training of the highest rowers of Russia. For Russians, this is the first international start of the 2022 season and one of the selections for the Goodwill Cup, the main sporting event of the year for our country.

Athletes from the Tver region successfully compete in the Russian national team. Based on the results of two days of the final, the Upper Volga piggy bank was replenished with awards, including two gold, silver and bronze.

One of the sensations of the Cup of the Republic of Belarus was presented by one of the most experienced and titled members of the national team, Honored Master of Sports Ilya Pervukhin from Tver. The 2012 Olympic medalist in the 1000m canoe double race in his quarry achieved a world-class award in the single canoe. Ilya won the final race in the 500 meters, while in the competition for gold he was ahead of his partner in the prize-winning Olympic deuce in London Alexey Korovashkovcurrently representing Primorsky Krai.

Meanwhile, the victorious traditions of Pervukhin in the two-man canoe were supported by a young Tver canoeist Ivan Dmitriev. Together with Zakhar Petrov from the Ryazan region, Ivan won a landslide victory in the final race of 1000 meters. Closest pursuers Kirill Shamshurin (Moscow region) and Vladislav Chebotar (Krasnodar Territory/Moscow) the winners were ahead by six seconds.

With the award at the international level, the debutante of the main Russian team, a 17-year-old resident of Tver, climbed the podium Julia Babashinskaya. If in the single kayak at a distance of 500 meters one of the youngest participants participated in the finals of the strongest and finished with the sixth experience, then as part of the crew of the kayak four she rowed to her first adult international medal. Babashinskaya in the same boat with Anastasia Karamnova, Olesya Kozeeva and Anastasia Dolgova became the silver medalist of the Cup of the Republic of Belarus. At the same time, the Russians lost some fractions of a second to the Belarusian four.

Honored Master of Sports of Russia rose to the third height of the podium in Zaslavl Artem Kuzakhmetov from Vyshny Volochyok and international master of sports Alexander Sergeev from Tver. As part of the crew of the kayak-two, fellow countrymen became bronze medalists at a distance of 500 meters, giving way to the third crew – Oleg Gusev / Viktor Gavrilenko and Vladislav Litovka / Roman Anoshkin.

On May 26, six more sets of medals will be played at the Cup of the Republic of Belarus.
