Responses to criticism of Brussels: ‘The so-called best-behaved boy in the class is reprimanded’ | reader letters
‘It is special to me why there are still people voting for the VVD’ and ‘the European Commission puts its finger on the sore spot in the Netherlands’. The readers’ letters appeared in the newspaper of Wednesday 25 May. You can send a response yourself via [email protected].
Left-wing collaboration | PvdA goes under in yuppies party GroenLinks
‘Approach, but still too early for the yes’ (ADVERTISEMENT 24-5). GroenLinks and the PvdA talk about cooperation. They want to make a fist against the right-wing majority. According to Jesse Klaver, the left should stop judging each other and Sab Scharwachter believes that the left is not doing well because of lack of leadership and a clear story. They simply do not want to see that the images of the PvdA have enough with the well-known overview woke upTopics: gender-neutral toilets, apologies for the slavery past, LGBTQ+ issues, climate and nitrogen. Quite a few people want to make it to the end of the month. If the left really wants to mean something, it will have to be made clear that the ordinary, average Dutch person is better off with them. It is better for the PvdA to remain independent, because in the event of a merger they will submerge in the yuppies party that GroenLinks now is and will remain.

European Commission | A mystery why people still choose VVD
‘Brussels from strong criticism: problems in the Netherlands are too big’ (ADVERTISEMENT 24-5). The European Commission puts its finger on the sore spot of the Netherlands. A skewed housing market, an impressive nitrogen problem, a congested road, rail and aviation network. One of the worst targeting countries for sustainability and failing to comply with the EU’s debt and deficit rules. The VVD has been at the helm for more than eleven years. If Rutte does not have to leave to have its consequences, then certainly because of the disastrous consequences of policy. It is unclear to me why there are still people voting for the VVD.

European Commission II | Even Brussels has to tap our country on the fingers
Every nation gets the leader it deserves. The Netherlands has Rutte. Since 1994, the VVD has had a short seat in the cabinets until now. The public sector is completely eroded and barely repairable, one crisis after another unresolved, carefully protected for the rich. The mismanagement is now surfacing that even Brussels feels compelled to get rid of the most well-formed boy. But if you have always coordinated VVD to protect your prosperous life, you will not be allowed to complain when the major problems in the Netherlands are at your door.
Ferry van der Poel, Wijk bij Duurstede.
Supreme Court ruling | Not just a group with expensive tax specialists
‘The government cannot say: we were wrong, which is a shame’ (Comment 24-5). The notification is now that only the objection raised at the time will be compensated. But what should men have objected to then? And on what grounds? Against the law at the time? It seems to me that you can object to misuse of the law of a tax officer’s error. My conclusion: everyone in our country has equal rights and so everyone should be compensated and not just the group that objected, probably with the help of an expensive tax specialist.

MS treatment | Can’t explain that you have to go abroad
‘Art: Give MS patient here stem cell therapy’ (ADVERTISEMENT 23-5). It is no longer possible to explain to anyone why MS patients have to beg money for a stem cell transplant abroad. While the treatment costs, MS medicines, hospital visits and medical aids in the Netherlands are already many tens of thousands of euros. Perhaps consider the rewards of top positions health insurers?
