Mushroom wants to reduce benefits and subsidies for accommodation for refugees in Prague. They are to be moved to regions with capacity Company News Pražská Drbna
The mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, proposes to limit the payment of benefits and subsidies to Ukrainian refugees for their accommodation in places where there are no more places or resources for them. According to him, the transfer of refugees to places with freer capacity should also be coordinated.
“It does not make sense to financially subsidize the stay of refugees in places where there is simply no capacity”
Hřib (Pirates) stated this after negotiations between regional representatives and the Ministry of the Interior, Vít Rakušan (STAN). The Austrian told reporters that the legislators are examining how to differentiate the amount of financial aid in individual regions depending on the workload of the regions. He described better information, for example, in school enrollment, as an easier way to direct refugees to less busy regions.
The Austrian wants to discuss the proposals at a government meeting today, but expects the ministers to decide on the matter at the next meeting in a week. As an alternative to reducing the amount of aid, he mentioned the financial incentives for municipalities and cities that provide more accommodation.
“They demand a more even distribution of refugees in the long run. It doesn’t make sense to financially subsidize the stay of refugees in places where there is simply no capacity, even according to the government’s data model. “ said Boletus in the statement.
Prague is the most congested
According to the mayor, the current situation in Prague is not sustainable; the local population is facing an increase in the cost of living. According to him, the solution must be managed directly by Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS). “It is not just a matter of coordinating the individual ministers, but also of agreeing with the cities and municipalities to which they should be relocated and which will have to receive money to cope with the crisis. “ explained Mushroom. He added that the municipality had already sent the finances to the city districts of Prague.
Over 350,000 refugees received temporary protection visas in the three months of the invasion of Ukraine. According to the Austrian, about 75 to 80 percent of them live in the Czech Republic, ie 262 thousand to 280 thousand. According to the Minister, the data are based on a pilot project in four municipalities with extended powers of various types. Prague has long been the most congested, with more than 80,000 people reporting their stay, according to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior.
