Luigi Pinasco elected new Uilm territorial secretary of Genoa – Lavocedigenova.it
The XVII Congress of the Uilm of Genoa ended in the early afternoon, in which the general secretary of the Uilm Rocco Palombella took part.
During the congress, Antonio Apa was unanimously elected Regional Coordinator of Uilm for Liguria, while Luigi Pinasco was elected territorial secretary of Uilm of Genoa.
Also on the proposal of the Uilm Secretary General Rocco Palombella, the new provincial secretariat was elected, which includes: Claudio Cabras, Fabiano Sciaccaluga and Daniela Miglietta.
In continuity with its political action, Uilm poses the “industrial question”: without innovation and investments it is impossible to withstand the challenge of competition.
The future of Genoa passes through work, production capacity and technology, all elements that derive from the real economy and the manufacturing industry. To pass from the great pandemic crisis to the restart, Genoa cannot miss the opportunity to overcome its gap due to decades of inaction: this time the resources are there and, on closer inspection, they are underwater from the much-mentioned PNRR .
Having exhausted the flywheel effect of the bridge, which however has left us an operational model as a legacy, the industry called Genoese is now making choices that will determine its survival. Realities such as Fincantieri, Leonardo, Ansaldo Energia, Hitachi, Rina, Esa, Abb, Liguria Digitale, Piaggio, Naval repairs constitute aggregation centers for advanced industries. Tourism, shipyards and ports, sectors linked to the sea, weigh much more on the economy than the national average, while the impact of the mechanical industry is lower due to the strong downsizing of public industry. Ansaldo Energia, Siemens, Fincantieri, Abb, Leonardo, Esaote, Liguria Digitale are not enough, we need to expand the number of companies and grow in size, knowing that the society of tomorrow will increasingly be a complex reality in which production and services will continuously intertwine.
Then industry will have to marry logistics while tourism will have to make a leap in quality: every economic activity will need a degree of intelligence and knowledge without which there will be no development. The knots to be solved for the Genoese and Ligurian economy are called steel and the automotive sector, sectors for which it is necessary to know how to do industrial policy.
2022 will not be the year of the rebirth of the former Ilva. The company has hinted that the closing on the investment agreement between Arcerol Mittal Holding srl and Invitalia, signed on 10 December 2020, will not conclude at the end of this month as planned. The company has opened an extraordinary cash flow procedure for 3,000 workers. After a month of negotiations, on March 28 the company reconfirmed the cash request for these 3,000 employees until 2023. Uilm, together with the general secretary Rocco Palombella, contested the cash procedure as it showed that the agreement of 2018 valid, but at the same time everyone knows that neither the company, nor the successive governments, nor Invitalia have had the courage to say that the 1500 workers migrated to Ilva AS will not return to Acciaierie d ‘Italia . If this were a serious country, the government should worry: since 2012 with the various executives that have followed one another, no one has made a contribution to the Ilva solution. Unfortunately we are dealing with a ruling class that is not up to par, but if anyone thinks of reserving the fate of Alitalia for Ilva, they are wrong. They will realize what steel workers are capable of. On Genoa, how is it possible that after the countless complaints made jointly by the metalworkers’ unions the company presents 35 million investments, are we joking? I am a pittance. The Genoa plant, in addition to being relaunched from a production point of view and transformed into a center of excellence for the verticalization of refrigeration, lacks huge ordinary and extraordinary investments. For this reason we have had continuous accidents and this is no longer acceptable. When necessary, we will continue to fight back.
Secularism and reformism allow Uilm to be present and to anticipate the future by virtue of that energy that comes from our members, from our history and from the awareness of being on the right path.
