Indonesia and Switzerland discuss sustainable energy cooperation at the WEF
We have a working group (on greenhouse gas reduction) and are very open to (new) participants.
Davos, Switzerland (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has held bilateral meetings with Swiss business union Économiesuisse and several CEOs of Swiss companies to strengthen cooperation on sustainable energy.
“Currently we have a sustainable community project with them. Switzerland is interested in investing in Indonesia, especially in the sustainable energy and infrastructure sectors,” said Francis Wanandi, head of Kadin’s bilateral Swiss committee.
He provided the information following a bilateral Business 20 (B20) roadshow meeting with Économiesuisse on Tuesday evening (GMT+2) at the Indonesia Pavilion at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2022 in Davos, Switzerland.
The Indonesian and Swiss delegates plan to draw up blueprints on various aspects that could be the subject of cooperation with Swiss companies, such as technology, investment and manpower, he added.
The textile industry became one of the main sectors discussed at the meeting as it is one of the sectors that harms the environment the most.
As Swiss companies have a range of technologies to reduce pollution and manage waste, they welcomed working with the Textile Federation of Indonesia to solve pollution and waste problems.

Meanwhile, Kadin Chairman Arsjad Rasjid said that Indonesia has launched a Kadin Net Zero Hub program as a platform for private companies to share information, knowledge and technology to reduce greenhouse gases.
“We have a working group (to reduce greenhouse gases) and are very open to (new) participants. In addition, human capital development is also an important key to the implementation of sustainable development,” he said.
In addition, B20 2022 Chair Shinta Kamdani said that sustainable energy is also one of the concerns of Indonesia as the current President of the G20 and Kadin as the organizer of the B20.
“Kadin raised the issue (sustainability) because we want to show that we are committed to it. Through Indonesia’s G20 presidency and Kadin’s implementation of the B20 of 2022, the President (Joko Widodo) expects us to take concrete action,” she noted.
Although Switzerland is not a member of the G20, Kadin hopes to be able to win the country as a partner with Indonesia in the future, particularly through the Sustainable Council project.
The results of the bilateral meeting will be evaluated in June 2022, so that by the time of the B20 summit in November 2022, Kadin will already have developed a mature cooperation concept that is ready for implementation.
