Prague will feel more eighth than ever before the assassination of Nazi chief Reinhard Heydrich. Part of the area around the monument on Prague’s V Holešovičkách artery will be closed for the whole day.

Airplane over Prague
The reconstruction of the assassination will take place on Friday morning. A British Hawker Hurricane fighter jet will fly over Prague in the color of the personal fighter of the Czechoslovak fighter Karel Kuttelwascher.
According to the official program, the Scottish bagpipers Rebel Pipers will also perform at the memorial as a reminder that the training of Czechoslovak paratroopers took place in Scotland. The anthems of the Czech Republic and Great Britain will also be heard on the spot.
“It was the largest resistance operation in the occupied territories during the Second World War, it is necessary to remember it not only because of the paratroopers themselves, but all those who helped them and put their lives on,” says the mayor of Prague 8, Ondřej Gros.
According to the portal of the Prague City Hall, the roads around the Libeň Memorial will be closed from Thursday afternoon to Friday afternoon, this will also apply to the important Prague artery V Holešovičkách.
Operation Anthropoid
Operation Anthropoid aimed at assassinating Heydrich. Gabčík and Kubiz chose a sharp turn under Vychovatelná in Kobylisy, Prague, for the execution. Heydrich’s car arriving from Panenské Břežany was attacked on May 27 together with Josef Valčík and Adolf Opálka. Heydrich was wounded in the explosion and died on June 4.
Immediately after the assassination, martial law was declared and mass repairs began. Seven paratroopers died on June 18 in the Orthodox Church of Cyril and Methodius in Resslova Street. The Nazi terror culminated in June 1942 with the extermination of Lidice and Ležáky.
