An Irish court has rejected a lawsuit against the Slovenian insurance company Sava
LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), 25 May (SeeNews) – The Irish High Court has rejected a lawsuit filed by local hotel operator Coachhouse Catering that his insurance policy with the Slovenian Insurance Group Sava covered the damage caused by coronavirus imprisonment, Sava said.
“The High Court confirmed this text of the suspension of Zavarovalnica Sava’s operations [and/or] The license loss policy does not cover the losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic, “the Sava Group announced on Tuesday.
The case was treated as a “test case” within the supervisory framework for Covid-19 and the Central Bank of Ireland’s interruption insurance and represents an important milestone for Sava and its policyholders, the Slovenian group said.
In November 2020, the Sava Insurance Group was informed of new case law and regulatory practices and other important facts regarding the possible additional negative effects of Covid-19 on its operations in Ireland and the United Kingdom. In this regard, in the first half of 2021, court proceedings were initiated before the competent court, the outcome of which could have a significant impact on other lawsuits filed, Sava said.
The Coachhouse filed a request for the temporary closure of its Cork County hotel in March 2020 due to Irish government action in response to the pandemic.
