Thanks to the Brussels OCMW, students can block in rest home | Brussels
BrusselsThe CPAS of the City of Brussels resumes its project ‘residential blocks’ after the success of the first edition last year. From 23 May to 30 June, a maximum of six students will be able to use a single room in the Ter Ursuline rest home to prepare their exams in a quiet place.
“Many students do not have the space to prepare for their exams in good conditions, because their home is too small for their family situation, for example. We suggested to the young people supervised by our cell to start this problem by offering them a place to spend their block period independently, in a calm and serene environment. our Ter Ursuline rest home has furnished and opened an empty wing of its building for them. Khalid Zian, President of the CPAS of the City of Brussels.
During the first edition of the project, in June and August 2021, the OCMW was able to provide 27 students with a study place in a hotel in De Marolles. “The evaluation was positive: most students recorded that they had performed better during their exams during the sojourn blocks. That’s why we’re continuing the year, in a modified format, which will also be project this year,” Khalid Zian. The plan is to activate the project again this year during the exam period in August.
In addition to residential blocks, the Brussels CPAS also offers 146 places in four study rooms in the city. All students over the age of 16 can use the rooms upon presentation of their student card.
