Scheinherr (Prague itself): Prague will financially support the construction of cycle paths and other projects
Rada hl. At Monday’s meeting, the City of Prague approved the provision of subsidies for the preparation and implementation of projects in the field of transport infrastructure in the total amount of CZK 177,127,000.
Financial contributions will go to the construction of new cycle paths, barrier-free crossings or, for example, pedestrian bridges. Successful applicants include the Prague 8, Prague 9, Prague 14, Prague 18, Prague 19, Prague-Běchovice, Prague-Čakovice, Prague-Dubeč, Prague-Klánovice, Prague-Lysolaje, Prague-Satalice and Prague-Vinoř districts.

“Projects of city districts that have succeeded with the application for subsidies should start to emerge this year and are currently at a high level of project preparation. These are new constructions, land purchases or financing the preparation of project documentation, or co-financing of already completed constructions. Specifically, it should be, for example, a project for the reconstruction of the A2 cycle path in the Šaldov-Negrelli viaduct for Prague 8, which will receive 12 million crowns, Čakovice’s plan to build the A27 cycle path including a 39 million crown footbridge 13.5 million crowns, “says the deputy mayor of the capital. m of Prague for transport Adam Scheinherr.
Prague councilors have decided to distribute subsidies for events in the field of transport infrastructure in the total amount of CZK 177,127,000 to the city district. Projects for cycle paths, barrier-free crossings, pedestrian bridges or, for example, the plan to strengthen the road around the Ctěnický pond will be supported.
All projects that have received the promise of a subsidy support active transport and are in line with the capital’s transport policy. The support of active transport is also in accordance with the Plan for Sustainable Mobility of Prague and its Surroundings, which was approved by the City Council. m of Prague in May 2019. The advantage of project preparation and implementation by the city districts is local knowledge, the ability to better prepare property rights in agreement with local owners and to ensure negotiations with the relevant state administration bodies. City districts have shown an active approach and supported projects address issues in their territory.
The subsidy is provided on the basis of a request from the relevant city district in accordance with Act No. 250/2000 Coll., On Budgetary Rules of Territorial Budgets, as amended, which specifies the specific purpose, costs and what it will be used for. The allocation of funds to the city districts will still be approved by the City Council. m of Prague at its meeting this week.
