Hungary has withdrawn its World Cup hockey competition
The new host of the 2023 World Hockey Championships will approve the 2023 Annual Congress of the IIHF on Friday after the IIHF Council decided on April 26 to revoke the right to host from Russia. The tournament was originally planned for St. Petersburg.
Hungary submitted a joint application, which is especially pointed out by the fact that the Hungarian national team has recently joined an ordinary group, that is, even if it could have played. However, the Hungarian Hockey Association informed the IIHF that it had not received the 2023 World Hockey Championships, which required a government guarantee, and therefore withdrew its bid for the recently opened 19,182-seat MVM Dome in Budapest and the Slovenian capital. , Ljubljana, has planned a 10,500-seat Arena Stozice as a possible host.
The reasons for the lack of a guarantee can only be guessed at, one of the most common tips is budget coercion, the government guarantee government is not a real expense at all. The other is that the government doesn’t want to get in an awkward position on such a geopolitically sensitive affair, but there are also speculations that hockey has fallen a bit out of the government’s pixel.
According to the Finnish-Latvian competition, the 2023 World Hockey Championships 2023 will be held from 12 to 28 May 2023 at the largest venues in the two most passionate hockey countries in the world.
