Here are the 10 most liveable cities in the world
A city can be qualified as “livable” when it can offer its citizens many opportunities: adequate and dignified work, culture, free time, education, social life and, of course, a home. Mercer has made a list of the 10 most livable cities in the world, which have entered the ranking for high quality of life, thanks to the attraction they exert towards newcomers and thanks to the fact of being able to keep their residents. Urban design is also very important, which can have a significant impact on the liveability of a city and which leads to citizen satisfaction.
Cities that have implemented eco-sustainable projects and have created innovative projects from the point of view of greenery and ecology, certainly have a higher quality of life.
Here are the 10 most liveable cities in the world: the top 3
In tenth place in the ranking we find the third largest city in Switzerland, Basel, which is located in the border triangle between Germany and France.
In ninth place is Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. The city has always been synonymous with satisfaction and quality of life. Copenhagen is among the most liveable cities in the world.
In eighth place in the ranking we find Switzerland again, with Geneva. The second largest city in the Swiss country, home to international organizations (UN, CERN, WHO, etc.).
The next 3 cities in the ranking
In seventh place is located in Frankfurt, Germany, home to the European Central Bank, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and numerous financial institutions, it is one of the most important cities in the world from an economic point of view. But it is also a transport hub and a jumble of different cultures.
In sixth place in the ranking is still Germany, with Dusseldorf. The state capital of Rhineland is a trade fair city and is one of the most famous German locations for advertising, fashion, culture and museums.
In fifth place is Canada with Vancouver, which is not only a popular travel destination for tourists from all over the world. The city in southwestern British Columbia is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world.
The last 4 places in the ranking
In fourth place there is still Germany with Munich, which turns out to be the most livable city in Germany which, in 2014 is ranked second in the world in terms of infrastructure and fourth in terms of general quality of life. This tradition also continued in the years to come.
In third place is Auckland, New Zealand. An idyllic landscape, a balanced economy and cultural diversity have placed the New Zealand city on the podium of the most liveable cities in the world.
In second place we are still Switzerland with Zurich. As the country’s economic and cultural center, it is not only one of the cities with the highest quality of life, but also one with the highest cost of living. It must be said, however, that wages here are adequate to the cost of living. This Swiss city also houses the world’s most delicious chocolate museum.
At the top of the ranking is the Austrian capital: Vienna. Politics, economics, culture and environment, Vienna for eight consecutive times has finished in first place in the Mercer ranking as the most liveable city in the world.
As you can see, Italy is missing in this ranking, even if, among the cities where you live best, there is an unsuspected Italian city among the quality of life.
