European Archeology Days

From 17 to 20 June – throughout Italy – The European Days of Archeology with visits to archaeological sites.

Rosario Santanastasio (National President of Archeoclub of Italy): “Archeoclub of Italy and the historical walker Vienna Cammarota, will celebrate the European Days of Archeology together from 17 to 20 June !!”.

Cammarota of Vienna, 72 years old, from Campania, will be the first woman in the world to describe the Silk Road in contemporary times, crossing it on foot. You leave on April 26th from the Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice.

Vienna Cammarota (Ambassador of the Archeoclub of Italy and Environmental Hiking Guide of ASSOGUIDE): “

“Archeoclub D’Italia and the historical walker Vienna Cammarota, will celebrate the European Days of Archeology together. Vienna, who at the age of 72 is walking the Silk Road, will visit some archaeological sites from the Roman era and will send us the images that we will insert in the column dedicated to her “Traveling with Vienna” on the Instagram page of Archeoclub D’Italia on 17 – 18 – 19 – 20 June.

In these 4 days, throughout the national territory, we will hold visits to less known but equally beautiful archaeological sites. The press can obviously be with us “. He announced it Rosario SantanastasioNational President of the Archeoclub of Italy.

And in these minutes Vienna is on its way to Serbia !!

“I am still in Croatia and about to arrive in Novska – Vienna Cammarota declared – then I will continue to Nova Gradiska, Staro Petrolio Selo, Luzani, Brodski, Stupnik, Slavonski Brod, Velika Kopanica, Spacva, Lipovac where I will cross the border to enter Serbia. In this area of Croatia I am not showing particular hospitality towards a person who walks with a backpack.

I see a population still afraid of war. From 17 to 20 June we will celebrate the European Days of Archeology and therefore I will be on the trail of important archaeological evidence, particularly from the Roman era “.

Between the Path of the Sandbanks, and archaeological sites of great value with a visit to the Tezon Grande inside which numerous internal finds unearthed in the lagoon are exhibited, today the Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice is making a boom in tourists becoming one of the most visited and most requested.

But here’s why Cammarota of Vienna started from the Isola del Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice:

“There is an interesting archaeological area, all to be seen with numerous ancient finds. Vienna Cammarota, began its journey, on April 26, towards Beijing, from a very important place for the history of Venice and Europe.

The Lazzaretto Nuovo is among the Venetian hospitals, the only one to have been fully recovered in recent decades.

Today, after the many restorations carried out – said Gerolamo Fazzini, archaeologist and President of Archeoclub D’Italia based in Venice, on the eve of the departure of Vienna Cammarota – in addition to the historical-archaeological and monumental aspects, it can also be used as a naturalistic and environmental area: an ecomuseum.

In Venice after the “Lazzaretto vecchio” (1423), the first lazaretto in history, where manifest cases of plague were isolated, in 1468 a second health facility was established which had the task of isolating the suspects, called “lazzareto novo” to distinguish it on the other already existing, Lazzaretto Vecchio.

So this is where the first quarantine was born, we will see the green pass, with the use of sanitation techniques. Interesting are the archaeological area, the Tezon Grande now a museum with numerous finds, then the Walls with the belvedere, the Path of the Sandbanks able to show the lagoon in its original state “.

Vienna left on April 26 from the Lazzaretto Nuovo in Venice, accompanied by Gerolamo FazziniPresident of Archeoclub D’Italia, seat of Venice, who gave her the Flag of Venice inside which there is the word PACE, from the Countess Chiara Modica Donà Dalle RosePresident of the International Biennale of Sacred Art, who also received him at the Palazzo Donà Dalle Rose, dating back to the 16th century, one of the most important in Venice and home to the International Biennale, from Debora OnistoVice President of the Culture Commission of the City of Venice, from Zhu YuhuaPresident of the Ferrari Fan Club of Shanghai who gave her the Ferrari hat, from Luciano Tellaroli of the Association of Cultural Ambassadors on the Silk Road, from Giorgia FazziniHead of Communications at Lazzaretti Veneziani.

Vienna Cammarota will arrive in China, on foot not before December 2025, at the age of 75 until the end, after 22,000 km traveled, and to have crossed again: Serbia, Bulgaria, then will descend towards Turkey, Georgia, Iran. Turkimenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, then China.
