Cruises, Genoa is the second favorite port of departure for Italians
Genoa is the second preferred departure port for cruise passengers after Civitavecchia. The data emerges from the recent study carried out by CruisesItalian site entirely dedicated to the world of cruises.
According to the research, the Western Mediterranean is the choice and occupies the first place in the order of destination of Italian cruise passengers, with 50% of the total, ahead of the Eastern Mediterranean, with 37% of searches. Civitavecchia was the most sought-after port of departure for Italians, followed by GenoaBari, Venice, Naples, Brindisi, Palermo and Savona.
Two large companies share almost all the preferences of Italian cruise passengers: MSC Cruises with 67% and Costa Cruises with 19%.
The research also shows that, contrary to popular belief, cruises are not just for elderly people: almost seven out of ten Italian passengers are under the age of 50 And 40% are under 35. Only one in ten is over 66 years old. Furthermore, booking a cruise is a considered decision and is taken well in advance: four out of ten Italians (42%) book more than four months before departure, while 32% book between two and three months before; only 26% less than one month before departure. Curiously, 4% of Italians book more than a year before departure. One-week cruises are the most popular, far more than those lasting 3-5 days or over 7 days.
