“Colors of the South, Antoine and Jos Henri Ponchin”, from May 25 to October 30″ PACA’s economic and political newsletter
As part of the summer and fall season (from May 25 to October 30, 2022)the Regards de Provence museum is offering the first retrospective bringing together the two Marseille painters Antoine Ponchin (1872-1933) and Jos-Henri Ponchin (1897-1981), father and son from a four-generation family of artists.
Throughout their lives, they have nurtured a deep attachment to the South, transcribing the light and atmosphere of their native Provence, striving to capture its nuances. They were artists in the spirit of the Ecole Marseillaise, turned towards the representation of the luminous beauties of the Provençal landscape, and defined by the journeys to the South permitted by the gateway to the Orient. The multiplicity of their works, both in their style and in their motifs, testifies to their personality and uniqueness. According to their generation, they were in perpetual evolution in their work, always united by family ties, by the love of painting and loyalty to the South.
It is an invitation to cross the gaze of these two Provençal artists who, each in their own way, have sublimated the Colors of the South.
