Another tent town for 150 refugees will be established in Prague
“Another tent town will be built in Malešice, and this tent town will be designed just for a humanitarian emergency. This means for people who are not entitled to temporary protection in the Czech Republic or to any benefit, but they are people who normally stayed at the main station in front of the main station, and we will provide them with what they need here, “said the Austrian. .
At the end of May, volunteer assistance to refugees at the main station will end.
The town will be built on the networked land of the Czech Post.
According to the minister, a Roma non-profit organization will work with the refugees in the town of Malešice, which will explain to them the prospect of staying in the Czech Republic and will be able to inform them that they can get to Hungary by train free of charge.
The first tent town was established in mid-May in Troy, and it also serves mainly for refugees from Prague’s main railway station, ie mainly for the Roman family.
However, according to the Austrian, people who are entitled to temporary protection and are waiting for verification should head to this town.
The town of Troy was practically full on the first weekend, when 142 Ukrainian refugees found asylum there. The capacity of the town is also 150 beds.
An information stand will also be set up at Prague’s main railway station today, refugees will be informed about the possibilities and conditions of their stay in the Czech Republic, the Austrian said.
According to him, the Ministry of the Interior had leaflets printed not only in Ukrainian but also in Hungarian, which contain information about whether refugees have a Hungarian passport and are not entitled to temporary protection in the Czech Republic.
According to him, the leaflet also describes how to apply for support in Hungary.
People who decide to stay in a part of the Czech Republic other than Prague will be entitled to a free ticket.
“The issue of tickets will be organized through persons appointed by the Regional Assistance Center for Assistance to Ukraine in Prague, and these persons will eventually be a special card that will entitle them to collect a given number of tickets for these people who do not apply for them,” said the Austrian.
Tickets will be funded by the Ministry of Transport.
According to the Austrian, each region should also generate 30 to 50 places for emergency accommodation of people who will not be able to be placed in Prague.
During the three months of the invasion of Ukraine, 353,412 refugees obtained temporary protection visas. According to the Austrian, about 75 to 80 percent of them live in the Czech Republic.
According to the Minister, the data are based on a pilot project in four municipalities with extended powers of various types.
Prague has long been the most congested, with 81,944 people reporting their stay to date, according to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior.
