Women’s League: Bourges in the final against Lyon
Bourges won at Basket Landes (77-65), reigning French champion, during the “beautiful” at the Prado and will thus find Lyon in the final of the Women’s League, which will start on Sunday May 29.
Basket Landes was deprived of its leader Marine Fauthoux, who received a neck shock during Match 2. A huge handicap when we know that the international had been the author of 26 points (8 faults caused, 10/10 in throws ) during this meeting in Mont-de-Marsan won on the wire (71-70).
At first, the pair Céline Dumerc / Marie-Eve Paget made people forget the absence of the titular leader. The Landaises were furious, intractable in defense, and it was they who took the lead (4-10, 16-22). Only, the Tango in turn began to defend the lead, nothing more happened, Basket Landes missed the target 12 times at three-point in 13 attempts, Sarah Michel was as often at the heart of each action, Laétitia Guapo ran in all directions, and Bourges find themselves at half-time with a maximum favorable gap of 12 points (39-27).
Led by the indestructible Kristen Mann (39 years old in August, top scorer of the match with 17 points), Bourges got comfortable in the third quarter (56-38). Basket Landes threw all his forces into battle, but with his protean attack, Bourges had a solution for every possession. At 4’33 from the end, the Tango had a 20-point lead (73-53), the case was insufficient.
