The murder of the 36-year-old real estate agent, who had disappeared in April 2017, after a visit to the Hippocratic Hospital of Thessaloniki and was finally found dead in a steep area of ​​Halkidiki, is being revived in the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki. The trial is set to begin today and last for days.

The accused in the case is a special vascular surgeon, who was unanimously sentenced at first instance to life imprisonment for “homicide committed by omission, possible deceit” and “insulting the dead”.

He threw her off a cliff

The unfortunate woman, mother of three children, had been discharged from Hippocratic Hospital on a general duty day to undergo removal surgery on her legs. After the 43-year-old, today, the doctor took her to an abandoned area of ​​the hospital, he gave her two strong anesthetic drugs, which, according to what witnesses had testified at the first instance trial, were not necessary for such operations. The anesthetics appear to have caused the woman apnea and respiratory depression, resulting in her death.

Then, according to the case file, the accused “loaded” the 36-year-old in his car and drove her to Halkidiki, throwing her body on a cliff in the area of ​​Paliouri, where they were found in a state of decomposition for the next 24 hours.

What he had said in his apology

The police had considered him a suspect from the first moment, as he was the last one to appear with her. However, it was not only the telephone communications that “betrayed” him, but also the gps in the device of his mobile phone, which recorded the entire route that followed from Thessaloniki to Halkidiki, while -in addition- in his car was found organic . material of the deceased.

He himself had claimed in the first instance trial that the woman’s death was the result of a medical error, while he was trying to do his subsequent actions, he apologized that he had them, when he found out that the patient was dead. “I did not find the courage to tell anyone what had happened. I could not accept it, nor could I think coldly. I put her in the car and started driving. “I was completely lost,” he said.

For the case of the Administrative Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki, he awarded the relatives of the 36-year compensation of 700,000 euros, according to their defense.
