The world is right: a memorial program will be held in honor of Katalin Karády in Debrecen
Debrecen – The legendary actress is honored with music, personal experiences and conversations.
In gratitude for his heroic and humanitarian deeds during the war years, in 2004 the Jad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem awarded Katalin Karády the posthumous award “True to the World”. They will pay tribute to the actress in memory in the theater hall of the VOKE Understanding Cultural Center on Saturday, June 4 from 4 p.m.
The members of the Katalin Karády Lovers Club will provide a worthy commemoration. The singer Judit Soós performs her favorite Karády songs with her daughter, Judit Sándor.

They also recall personal and indirect experiences with Katalin Karády, and summarize the actress’ oeuvre in a roundtable discussion.
The conversation will be led by Péter Zsolt Karády researcher and theater historian. Guests:
- Endre Bakó, literary historian,
- Tamás Horovitz, President of the Debrecen Jewish Community,
- László Kelecsényi writer, film historian,
- Gyöngyi Nagy, historian,
- Writer Sándor Pintér,
- Sándor Erdei journalist, museologist,
- Anna Czupra, whose mother was Karády’s make-up artist,
- and communication researcher Adrian Lips.
There are also recollections of people who have met the diva, such as János Palotás, Katalin Karády’s best friend in New York, and the famous pianist Huba Nagymáthé, who was the artist’s musical accompanist in New York. The dissertation details original Karády interviews and footage throughout.
Surprise guest: Eszter Fehér, the presenter of the “singing family doctor” program of Hatos kanal Three of the Hungarian Wish.
