Successful exchange of youth orchestras Amsterdam and Texel
After skipping two years because of corona, it was finally possible again: the exchange of Artex’ Fortissimo orchestra with the youth orchestras of Amsterdam. This time with youth orchestra AJunSo from Muziekschool Noord. No fewer than 32 young musicians aged 9 to 14 repeated pieces of music and gave two performances on Texel.
The exchange of Fortissimo (led Loes Bakker) with the AJunSO Amsterdam was a great success, partly thanks to the beautiful weather, the concert on Saturday was able to shoot outside. After a public rehearsal and lunch in the park, the orchestras performed in Het Glazen Paleis, conducted by Peter Veenhuizen. With many violins and cellos, clarinet, flutes, keyboards, harp and trumpets, varied music can be heard, from Mr Blue Sky by ELO to a march from the Scipio by GF Haendel.
After a pleasant evening in the scouting building, with a starter meal, sports and games and the traditional music quiz organized by assistant parents, the musicians started their way to the Maartenhuis on Sunday. A coffee concert was held here for residents and other interested parties in the Artaban hall. Peter Veenhuizen made it a light-hearted and informative program, with the participation of a guest conductor from the audience, and in between he learned all kinds of interesting facts about the orchestra and the instruments. Then it was time for an ice cream, lunch and a visit to the beach at Paal 17.
AJunSO and Fortissimo look back on a fun and successful exchange and are looking forward to next weekend in Amsterdam on June 18 and 19, with a Father’s Day concert in the Noorderpark!
