Exports in general decreased by 20%, to 38.5 million tons
From the beginning of the mass agricultural year (from July 1, 2021) to May 23 this year, Russia exports 34.15 million tons of wheat. This is 11% less than in the same period last agricultural year. Sales exports as a whole decreased by 20%, to 38.5 million tons, Interfaxin connection with the monitoring of the Russian Grain Union.
“According to the assessment, until the end of the season, i.e. until the end of June 2022, another 6 million 435 thousand tons of imports, including 850 thousand tons of wheat, can be exported,” Elena Tyurina, director of the analytical department of the association, said. Shipments of barley and corn are 40% lower than last year.
According to Tyurina, exports are within the quota, which is expected until June 30 this year.
As Tyurina clarified, 386,000 tons of grain crops were shipped to a significant amount, which is 18.5% more than before. The basis for increasing the cost of wheat is 305 thousand tons against 300 thousand tons for a big difference. The number of daily workings of wheat in May doubled compared to previous periods – up to 43.6 tons.
At the same time, the indicators for wheat exports for the month are higher than in May last year. “Then for the whole month it was shipped 675 thousand tons, in this incomplete month – already 950 thousand tons. But for exports as a whole, the figure is below, because the shipment of barley and corn was controlled. I don’t think that the missing volumes arrived in the last week of May,” said the head of the analytical department of the Russian Grain Union.
mass American consumption on a minimum share of the population of eight to six. Iran bought the maximum amount of wheat – about 70,000 tons. Shipments have resumed in Israel – 40 thousand tons. At the same time, the wealthy buyers, Egypt and Turkey, shipped only 14,000 and 36,000 tons, respectively.
“The activity of buyers at the moment is quite low. This is due to the risks of accidents through black ports that are associated with shipping points. And besides, the situation with gross collections in other countries, except for Russia, is not yet fully understood. We can say that the market is frozen in anticipation,” said Tyurina.
Speaking about the price situation, Tyurina said that wheat prices in Europe rose quite seriously over the week – by 6.5%. “French wheat was $430 a week ago, now $458. At this price, the American froze, for the second week in a row, $476 per ton. Russian wheat (FOB) rose to $410 from $396 a week earlier,” she said.
