Female trio at the head of the Neos in Salzburg
The pink surprise with a female dominance. At the party conference, they prepared for the state elections in 2023
The Pinken completely in the hands of the women: With 83.1 percent of the votes, regional councilor Andrea Klambauer was confirmed as the top candidate (unopposed) at the party conference at the weekend. Second place surprisingly went to Karin Feldinger in the democratic primary. “It was totally unexpected for me, too,” she says, delighted with the vote. Feldinger comes from Elsbethen, she is currently the press spokeswoman for the state councilor’s team, but also has experience in fighting for votes. Feldinger was a mayoral candidate for the “Independent List Elsbethen” and for the Neos she already ran in the 2019 European elections as the second on the list. The pink team just barely manages the second mandate on the EU stage. The dream of moving into the EU Parliament burst.
Core issue women
Her main topic for Salzburg are women. Feldinger advocates equal opportunities. Women still earn 21 percent less in Salzburg with the same qualifications – one of the injustices where she wants to start as a Neos politician. Feldinger also wants to take up the cause of education and the climate crisis. “I have a thirteen-year-old daughter. That’s when you want the world to keep working.”
In third place is Liesl Weitgasser, the newly elected chairwoman of the state parliamentary group and tourism expert from Pongau after internal quarrels surrounding Sepp Egger’s departure. Her top position was to be expected.
Sebastian Huber slipped from second place to an uncertain fourth place. However, he did not make any dissatisfied comments. Anna Rausch-Mosshammer follows in fifth place. She is also part of the team at the Klambauer government office. Critics see this as an indication of a thin staffing level. Neos supporters interpret it as closed support for the state councilor.
The area code works with the Pinken in a three-stage process. This includes an open citizens’ voting, the voting in the board and the election by the members.
Neos emphasize unity
Motto for Provincial Councilor Andrea Klambauer and her team: “Simply govern cleanly, without scandals, without corruption and without post-hunting!” Internal cross-shots, such as those from the local party group in Mittersill, fell silent again.
In the election program, the pink front trio is now working out details. The aim is to be part of the government team again in 2023. In numbers, that means: The Neos want to achieve three to four mandates.
