Canaima. Gin created in the Amazon arrives in Portugal
THE Canaïma, Sogrape Distribuição’s gin, produced by the Venezuelan distillery DUSA, is now available in Portugal. The drink supports reforestation and Amazonian tribes.
Taking on a unique creative challenge, the ‘perfect mayors’ study the perfect challenge of a model of solutions and fruits with a balance of flavors and aromas. This search leads them to a mystical location: the Amazon rainforest. And they invited Simone Caporale, a famous bartender, known for being part of the ‘dream team’ that led the Artisan Bar at the Langham Hotel, in London, to be awarded as the best bar in the world for several consecutive years, to participate in the development of the concept of product and profile of Canaïma gin.
This gin is distinguished by a flavor that results from the mixture of botanicals from the rainforest and traditional gin. It is made with 10 exotic ingredients from the Amazon, hand-picked in collaboration with the Pemón tribe, in Venezuela, such as merey, açai, Palma grape, túpiro, seje and copoazú, to which is added a fruit from the Lara region, where the distillery, and eight traditional botanicals used in the production of gin.
All1 of which are selected for a special treatment, the bots are given a special treatment for the group of new aromas that were chosen to be selected later: in gold they are selected for the first aromatics and then selected: from each of them. It is produced only in batches of five hundred liters.
The master blender then creates a blend with a unique blend and flavor that reveals the citrus impact of the orange peel, with notes of herbs that emerge from the seje and fruits from the merey, which are complemented by aromatic and mineral notes of the Copaazú, the grape. of moriche, túpiro and açaí.
Much of the gin is also produced with non-toxic and recyclable materials, to minimize the bottle’s ecological footprint. The label is made of uncoated recycled paper, cap is made of natural cork and protective wood protected against the glass of the recyclable bottle.
In Portugal, Gin Canaïma is on sale at specialty fairs and at the special garra (ECI, Apolónia). Annually, its global sales “to fund initiatives that help preserve the culture, improve the quality of life of the different indigenous communities of the Amazon” and help in the reforestation of a region that is frequently ravaged by fires, is in a statement.
