Alexandra Felderer is Economics Student of the Year – University of Innsbruck
Alexandra Felderer, a student of international economics, was named business student of the year. The prize money of EUR 1,500 for the “Student of the Year in Management and Economics” award and a further EUR 2,000 for four recognition awards are provided by the Bank Austria Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Research.
Every year, students of the bachelor’s degree in Management and Economics and the diploma in International Economics can apply for the title “Student of the Year in Management and Economics” at the University of Innsbruck. In addition to very good academic performance, social commitment on the part of the students is also a prerequisite for this award. This year, the jury selected Alexandra Felderer from Bolzano from numerous applications as “Student of the Year”.
“For me, social commitment is a very important criterion, which, in addition to the international orientation and strong regional roots, is also an important part of our corporate culture at UniCredit Bank Austria. We also set these priorities in Tyrol and this award for Tyrolean students is a nice sign of it,” says Daniel Hechl, Deputy Regional Director Corporate Customers Tyrol at UniCredit Bank Austria.
The awardee
In addition to her degree in international economics, the award winner is also studying a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Alexandra Felderer was honorary chairwoman of the youth group in South Tyrol for two years before her stay abroad, which is planned several times in the course of international economics and which she will spend in Rome from autumn.
She continues to demonstrate her social commitment to children and young people as a member of various state committees, working groups and project groups of the Jungeschar. Between 2019 and 2021 she also completed the speaker training of the Südtiroler Jugendring. She is currently teaching math and science at a middle school. Despite this great social and time-consuming commitment, the South Tyrolean learns within the standard study period and performs very well in both studies.
recognition awards
In addition, recognition prizes of 500 euros are awarded every year. This year these prizes went to Kristian Babic, Marina Farbmacher, Elena Christina Köchl and David Stigger. Rector Tilmann Märk, Daniel Hechl, deputy Regional Director Corporate Customers Tyrol of UniCredit Bank Austria, Annette Ostendorf, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, and Markus Walzl, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Statistics, presented the prizes at a ceremony in the SoWi building. They also congratulate the 18 Dean’s List nominees for being in the top 10 percent of their degree.
