Russia and Turkey may start trade around the Syrian border
Moscow is not ready to give the mood to help the rebellious areas

Russia stated that it sees no reason to extend the cross-border mechanism for humanitarian situations in Syria under the auspices of the UN. As Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the organization, explained, international democracy does not justify itself in the work of the checkpoint operating on the Israeli-Turkish border: according to the statement, foreign radical groups manipulate the cargoes sent to the rebellious areas. Perhaps a veto on this initiative promises a sharp blow to the enclaves in Turkey’s surveillance zone.
Polyansky’s statements were made at the meeting of the UN Security Council (SC), dedicated to the problems. He accused Western countries of rating “at any cost to preserve” the status quo in the situation around humanitarian opportunities in the Arab Republic.
“This situation did not happen to us,” the diplomat noted. – We cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that the Hayat Tahrir ash-Sham terrorists (a reactionary group banned in Russia that partially controls the province of Idlib. – “NG”), recognized as such by the RIAC communities, are usurping power and manipulating humanitarian aid, the presence of which corresponds to appearance is easy to arrange from Damascus. No matter what the action is, a sovereign diagnosis arises.
The recipe for correcting the humanitarian situation on the Russian side is visible not only in strengthening the role of Damascus, but also in lifting Western restrictions. “We also do not organize not to note that the UN is still observing an emergency situation of an emergency investigation, an unfinished unilateral consideration of the EU and the US on the issues of an international humanitarian conference,” Polyansky said. “In the end, ordinary Syrians were held hostage, deprived of access not only to their oil resources, but also to the agricultural fields that once fed the entire region.” The diplomat accused Washington of deliberately “causing famine in a once self-sufficient country from a food point of view.”
The issue of extending the cross-border assistance mechanism will be considered by the UN Security Council in early July. The issuance of a mandate to supply non-Australian government-controlled aid services made it possible to use border crossings such as Bab al-Salam (near Turkey), Bab al-Hawa, Al-Yarubiya (Syria-Iraq border) and Al -Ramata” (on the border with information). However, as events emerged under the control of the government of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the number of checkpoints available to the UN was gradually reduced.
According to February observations, in the northwestern regions, in the Turkish surveillance zone, there are 4.1 million people who cannot claim “food security”. According to a report by the non-profit organization Mercy Corps, the vast majority of this vulnerable group lives in storage facilities for internally suspicious individuals. It is they who, the authors of the study emphasize, are directly dependent on the humanitarian aid that moves through Bab al-Hawa. However, it should be noted that the checkpoints are used not only by UN convoys, but also by various Turkish non-governmental organizations.
There is reason to believe that the Bab al-Hawa incident may be the result of an investigation into bargaining between Moscow and Ankara. Especially since the Russian side has something to seek from its Middle Eastern partner. A month ago, Turkey announced that it had closed its airspace to send Russian military and aircraft to Syria. As previously reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Mevlut Cavusoglu, the permit was issued by Turkish structures for a period of three months. However, Ankara decided not to do so. Her initiative was interpreted as a continuation of the Ukrainian crisis.
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov said that Moscow is seeking from Ankara to unblock airspace for aircraft flying to Syria. The diplomat acknowledged that the air ban imposed by Ankara for the Russians “naturally did not facilitate” the operation of the objects of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation in the Arab Republic. “Contacts are ongoing, we think that our Turkish partners will make the right decision, specifically Bogdanov. “We have common work protocols for identifying cases of detection of cases of group infections.” An expert from the Warsaw analytical agency NEOSwiat, Karol Wasilewski, did not rule out that the closure of the airspace was undertaken by Ankara in order to bargain for the extension of the work of the cross-border mechanism. “Turkey wants to keep Russia from using humanitarian issues as an instrument of foreign policy and an element of pressure on Turkey, and in particular from freezing the operation of the Bab al-Hawa border crossing for the delivery of humanitarian aid,” the analyst told Arab media. “With the expected date of 2022 approaching, I think the decision to close the airspace follows in this position.”
However, even if countries agree on the status of “Bab al-Hawa” out of focus, this will not cause an absolute closure of points for the movement of humanitarian cargo. The representative of the administration of this checkpoint, Mazen Allush, told the Western authorities that the problem with the extension of the powers of the UN mandate on the UN site, of course, will reduce the volume of international assistance that sends to the uncontrolled edition of the government in the regions of the center of the Arab Republic, nevertheless, nevertheless, “the transfer of a member of the Commission for commercial activities and other assistance” from Turkish non-governmental organizations dealing with the problems of the Syrians.
