RTL Today – On our roads: Police arrest several drunk drivers
Too many drivers hit the road after consuming alcohol this weekend. The police caught several of them.
Despite prevention and sanctions, several motorists were arrested this weekend by the Luxembourg police.
A first was arrested at the end of the afternoon this Saturday. The man had hit a traffic island during a maneuver on Boulevard Kennedy in Kirchberg, in Luxembourg City. According to the police, he presented “obvious signs of alcohol consumption”. A breathalyzer confirmed the suspicions of the police, who withdrew his license.
A little later, un motorist with a hazardous driving style has been reported on the A7. A patrol managed to find him and submit him to a blood alcohol test. The result was positive.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, barely past midnight, a police team discovered a vehicle parked on the CR 118 between Mersch and Angelsberg. Its driver was on board but had fallen asleep in his seat. His driver’s license was revoked after the police got the result of his positive alcohol test.
Always in the night, a driver hit a tree in the rue de Luxembourg in Bridel. Slightly injured, she was taken to hospital for a check-up. Her blood alcohol level being too high, she had her driver’s license withdrawn.
It is still a drunk motorist that the police found on the Berchem rest area, on the A3 motorway. After continuing on his way, he was overtaken by a patrol, who kept his driver’s license.
Shortly before 3 a.m., witnesses reported a vehicle “heavily damaged” between Soleuvre and Oberkorn. Its driver had apparently crashed into several road signs. During his arrest by the police, who had used his flashing light, it hit the sidewalk “Many times” before stopping at a crossroads. His blood alcohol level “significantly exceeded” the legal limit.
Finally, around 2:30 a.m. this Sunday, a last driver said goodbye to his driving license after being arrested drunk on the A13.
