FC Zürich vs. FC Luzern 2:3 – that’s how the game went
3-2 win in Zurich
Almost over! In a nerve-racking long-distance duel, FC Luzern missed the leap to eighth place – the barrage is a fact
Suddenly hope was back at the FCL. The 3:2 victory in the Letzigrund at the Zurich champions brought nothing because Sion played 3:3 against Servette. The barrage against Schaffhausen is now also on the agenda for Mario Frick’s team.
FC Zurich : FC Luzern 2:3 (2:2)
The FCL starting lineup
Ibrahima Ndiaye is allowed to play at FC Luzern from the start. No surprises in coach Mario Frick’s line-up. Christian Gentner and Nikola Cumic are injured.
FCL fans protest
After a quarter of an hour, there are two bangs in front of the Lucerne fan curve. Message from the FCL fans:
«VAR, playoffs and what next?
Need for reform hed still d’SFL: Schäfer out.
Merci Stef and Cillo, stay tuned.»
FC Luzern and FC Zürich, together with YB and FC Thun, voted against the new mode in the Super League with 12 teams.
The goals
2nd minute – Goal FC Zurich: False start for Lucerne. Blerim Dzemaili with the wide ball to Assan Ceesay. The striker hangs up Aiyegun Sin away. The Nigerian hits with his flick from around 20 meters.
27th minute – Goal FC Zurich: A wide ball from Adrian Guerrero Assan Ceesay. The best FCZ goalscorer of the season runs alone to FCL goalie Marius Müller, runs around the German and pushes in.
38th minute – Goal FCL: Ardon Jashari initiates a Lucerne counterattack with a pass to Asumah Abubakar. The striker puts it back on Jashari, whose somewhat misshapen finish deflects close in front of goal Ibrahima Ndiaye still online.
45th minute – Goal FCL: Abubakar plays a through ball into the FCZ penalty area where Samuel Campo gets the ball and shoots in to make it 2-2. It is Campo’s first goal of the championship.
55th minute – Goal FCL: Campo hangs up after a throw-in Filip Ugrinic away. The midfielder shoots from a distance and scores to make it 2:3.
That’s how the game went
The Zurich celebrations have three highlights in the first half in the packed Letzigrund: Before the game with a big choreo, after a little more than a minute of play when Tosin scored early and after half an hour when Ceesay scored.
FC Lucerne? The guests have little to oppose the strong FCZ. Suddenly, however, the goal comes: Ndiaye can steer an FCL counterattack into the net in front of the goal.
After this goal, the Lucerne come into play better. Dräger shoots just over the goal from a corner. The FCL actually managed to equalize before the break. Abubakar plays steeply into the penalty area where Campo completed. Once again, FC Luzern is back in a game – 2-2 at break.
55 minutes played in the Letzigrund: Suddenly the FCL is currently in eighth place. Ugrinic hits Lucerne’s lead with a long-range shot. Meanwhile, Servette scores twice in Sion and leads in Valais. The FCL fans are going full throttle and Mario Frick’s team on the field is also aware of what has beaten it.
A nerve game develops in Zurich. Lucerne, if they don’t concede a goal, it looks good with the white league. In the 73rd minute, Abubakar has the fourth Lucerne goal on his feet – the striker misses alone in front of Brecher.
FC Sion equalized shortly before the end against Servette to make it 3:3. So the 3-2 FCL victory here in Zurich doesn’t help. Lucerne remains in ninth place and has to go into the barrage against FC Schaffhausen.
