Chakwera Meets Malawi Team Ahead of Swiss Business Forum – Malawi Nyasa Times
president dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has begun preparatory meetings with members of his delegation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to prepare for a rigorous schedule of engagements aimed at advancing Malawi’s socio-economic agenda.
President Chakwera began his day with a briefing from the ChargĂ© d’Affaires of the Malawian Embassy in Switzerland, Mr. Pacharo Kayira, on the 17 commitments His Excellency will have over the next 72 hours.
Kagame is one of the brightest recent African leaders who has managed to transform Rwanda from the aftermath of the 1984 genocide into a beacon of development.
The two leaders are expected to exchange notes during their meeting on how best to move forward with the economies of the two countries, both badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and the war in Ukraine can grow.
President Chakwera began his week-long stay in Davos with a very busy schedule.
He arrived in Switzerland on Saturday and will attend the welcome reception this Sunday with First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera.
Tomorrow, Monday, President Dr. Chakwera into serious business when he participates in shareholder dialogue on building economies in fragile economies.
On Friday’s departure from Lilongwe, President Chakwera said countries needed to discuss and find ways to deal with the challenges the world is currently going through.
The forum will take place from May 21st to 25th.
Among other things, the forum will discuss a just and fair global recovery path.
On his way back from Davos, Dr. Chakwera will pass through Malabo in Equatorial Guinea where he will attend the 15th Extraordinary African Union Summit on Humanitarian Affairs.
The Malawi leader will also attend the 16th Extraordinary African Union Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Government on May 26-28.
The first AU Summit will consolidate efforts by African leaders to address the humanitarian challenges currently facing the continent and develop strategies to mobilize resources to address them.
While the second summit will focus on sustainable solutions to the recent rise in terrorism and unconstitutional changes in government.
The State Department statement said the President will return home on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
