The Caribbean: Seebadi Mannenbach, Untersee
If you think of Caribbean beaches and exotic landscapes when you see this picture, you are wrong. This beautiful spot is located in the canton of Thurgau, more precisely in the village of Mannenbach. The small, public bathing area has changing rooms and showers, a children’s playground, a sunbathing lawn with a barbecue area and a small beach on the Untersee. There is also a bathing island in the middle of the lake.

Getting there: The seaside resort can be reached by train (Mannenbach-Salensteig stop) and by car. There are parking spaces in the town centre, at the Seehotel.

The historical: river pool Rhybadi, Rhine
The Holzbad Rhybadi has been a bathing resort in Schaffhausen for over 140 years and is therefore the oldest bath in Switzerland, if not in Europe. With a view of the Munot, you can let yourself drift in the river basin, eat in the bistro or simply enjoy the sun. The facilities at the Bade am Rhein include two springboards, various pools, a solarium and a Finnish sauna and books to borrow. Cultural events and concerts take place in the evenings.

The hidden: natural pool, Bichelsee
The Bichelsee lido is located on the canton border between the canton of Thurgau and the canton of Zurich. The 300 meter long lake is hidden between the picturesque landscape and is covered with water lilies. The natural pool has a children’s paddling pool as well as a playground, a meter springboard, a dental floss and a beach volleyball court. The beach kiosk offers food and toilets, showers and changing rooms are available.

Getting there: S-Bahn from Winterthur to Turbenthal, postbus to the Bichelsee-Strandbad stop. Or by postbus from Wil to Bichelsee Post, followed by a short walk. Parking spaces are available free of charge at the lido.

Vicinity: From Sirnach and Turbenthal, a cycle path leads to the Bichelsee. There are also various hiking trails in the area.
The hip one: Frauenbadi, Lake Zurich
The Stadthausquai women’s pool is located in the middle of Zurich on the Limmat. As the name suggests, only women are allowed to enter during the day – if you like, sunbathes here without a top. In the evening, men also have access and the floating bathing facility is transformed into the barefoot bar, where cultural events also take place.
