Rubber shot and tear gas at unwilling WEF demo in Zurich
The police used rubber bullets and tear gas against the demonstrators. According to a press release from the Zurich City Police, several dozen people had gathered at Stadelhofen station shortly before 8:30 p.m. A demonstration under the slogan “Smash WEF” was called for on the Internet.
Those gathered formed an unwilling demonstration that marched into the city center. The police temporarily closed several bridges to prevent the protesters from crossing the Limmat.
A group of protesters tried to break through a police barrier. The police, on the other hand, briefly used rubber bullets and tear gas. The demonstration broke up shortly thereafter.
The Zurich city police checked several people in the run-up to the demonstration. She reports they have spoken objects and secured pyrotechnics. Two people were taken to a police station for further investigation.
A woman fell when she tried to break through the police barrier and injured herself. She was driven to a hospital. The demonstration follows traffic obstructions in the city center of Zurich.
