Quillan: the attractive sporting and charitable challenge of Sébastien Elmon
Sébastien Elmon, sports educator from Ariège and amateur runner, has created an educational project around children with disabilities through inclusive actions, throughout the school year. With Soliraid Cathares, a non-profit organization, he launched the sporting and charitable challenge which consisted in joining Foix from Port-La Nouvelle, i.e. 237 km and 8 400 elevation gain, a long distance race on the GR 367 of the Cathar trails. Departing from Port-La Nouvelle, a few children ran the first 5 kilometers with Sébastien and his team, then met at the La Forge leisure center for a short break. He wanted to thank the city of Quillan, as well as the staff of the Forge who made the infrastructure of the center available to him so that he could shower, eat and rest a little before resuming his journey to finish his challenge in Foix.
When he arrived at the Forge, he discovered the drawings that the children had left to encourage him. The donations retained during this action make it possible to help the children of the IME of Lézat-sur-Lèze and to buy the equipment to practice the sport in autonomy.
