Business
Almost all sectors and companies are fighting against the ever-increasing shortage of staff. This should go on for years to come. Palfinger, the world’s leading crane manufacturer from Salzburg, is now breaking new ground in its efforts to attract skilled workers and junior staff.
On Friday, Palfinger presented a great deal of what the company has to offer on the exhibition grounds. More than 600 invited pupils and students were able to try out more than 32 industrial products for themselves. According to experts, this performance show also surpasses the group’s appearances at trade fairs.
Thousands of jobs still open
The background is the company’s 90th anniversary, which now also focuses on the future, says CEO Andreas Klauser: “We have therefore invited young talents from a number of schools and technical colleges. We have fewer and fewer well-trained specialists.”
Of its 12,000 employees worldwide, the company hired 2,000 last year alone, and around a thousand employees are currently being sought, emphasizes HR manager Michael Berger: “Our main topics are innovation and technology. We also have a location in Vienna for these new future topics.”
Echo of the youth very positive
The student Michael Klinger from the HTBL Salzburg emphasizes that this show is good advertising for Palfinger. His colleague Johanna Ebner from the HTBL Hallein likes the opportunity to test products. Maria Eder visits the HTBL Vöcklabruck: “Many people are familiar with Palfinger. That there is such a far-reaching production is very interesting.” And Bastian Polzner from HBTL Hallein says that the show is an inspiration for him to look for a job at Palfinger.
Palfinger needs specialists for all areas of the company – from software to cyber security to classic mechanical engineering. With the new performance show, Palfinger seems to score well with potential youngsters. Pupils and students are enthusiastic and interested.
