You read it right indeed! The Lancia brand has long since disappeared from the scene in the Netherlands. The Ypsilon was last sold as a new model in the Netherlands in 2017. Over the years we have already quietly said goodbye to the Voyager, the Thema and the Delta. All models were developed on models, but this American sauce did not catch on in Europe. Nevertheless, Lancia wants to try again from 2024, and also in the Netherlands!
We must not be mistaken about the Ypsilon. The model was sold in the Netherlands and perhaps that was due to the eccentric design. In Italy, the model is still sold well to this day. In fact, it is among the best-selling model in its segment in its home country. Outside the borders, however, the Ypsilon cannot break an iron and Lancia clearly wants to improve this.
The renewed Ypsilon will be on the market in 2024. In that year, the model will first go on sale in Italy, but later the Ypsilon should also be available in the Netherlands again. The new Ypsilon will not only come on the market with an electric powertrain.
Aurelia, the SUV
Under the code of one of the favorite classic Lancias of Napolitano and his team), Lancia is currently developing a complete name model. The Aurelia is expected to see the light of day in 2026. Whether the name will hold up in time is still unclear, although Lancia does indicate that the Greek alphabet is preferred for the name of a car.
The Aurelia should be a top model and Lancia sees this in the form of an SUV. It is a decision on the part of the Italians that may have been taken with care. The demand for these cars is huge and Lancia is happy to take a piece of this pie.
As mentioned, few details have been made yet. The Aurelia is expected to be approximately 4.6 meters long. This comes close to the current Audi Q5. Lancia says it will only say from 2026, which means that the ‘Aurelia’ will become an EV.
The all-electric Delta
The real purists of the brand only associate the Delta with the original model. It is the model that is synonymous with speed and power and the many victories in rallying. Since that time, the Delta has undergone quite a few transformations and the photo above the article is still the model from 2016.
The expanded Delta will be created in 2028. The Lancia development team itself admits that it is precisely this car that everyone is working towards. Count on a car that will become a technical brother of the current Peugeot 308 and DS 4. From 2028, Lancia will only sell fully electric cars. It is clear that the Delta will be an electric car.
With Lancia’s question again in rallying, the answer was definite. For the time being, there is no such thing. The manufacturer first wants to put the brand back on the map and men can think about it further. A positive note in all this is that Lancia will make its come-back on the Dutch market!
