La Tronche Meylan loses against Toulouse in the women’s Ligue 2 final
The dream of BCTM basketball players has passed. A real surprise of the Women’s Ligue 2 season, they lost 61-57 in the Ligue 2 return final, but rocked the South Pole ice rink exceptionally transformed into a basketball hall.
“The warriors” as the Iséroises call themselves were obviously not impressed by their one-night room, nor by enthusiasm that they occurred with nearly 3000 people gathered at the South Pole since the BCTM took the lead in the first quarter (17-12). But the Toulousaines, who have been looking to climb into the elite for several years, took control in the second quarter to lead 32-31 at the break.
Unlike the first leg where a big air pocket had quickly swept away BCTM’s hopes, this time the match remained close until the last quarter as the Iséroises attacked with a 4-point advantage (43-39). In a boiling ice rink Toulouse took the lead on three consecutive three-pointers 5 minutes from time. A sledgehammer blow to the head of the BCTM basketball players, who failed to come back, ended the 61-57 victory, the title and the rise in LFB in Toulouse.
But remains that the Iséroises have gained a lot in recent weeks. Nobody could have seen them in the final, nobody could have thought that they would gather 3000 people at the South Pole. The players offered themselves a magnificent gift, and a very nice lighting on their club and their sport.
