Kolářova Prague 6 continues to rename. The inhabitants were very surprised
Disappointment in Prague 6 in recent days has caused the change of the original name of the Hládkov tram stop to Max van der Stoel Park. The local town hall takes this step by the locals by making the new name better serve tourists. The Echo.cz server informs about it.
The city district of Prague 6 advocates renaming the tram stop on its Facebook account by saying that the new name is more readable for tourists, who could also discover the existence of the adjacent park.
“Only stops that do not serve locals as well as visitors to Prague who go to a destination have changed, which in this case may be a beautiful park of the same name or a monument to Max van der Stoel, which commemorates Dutch politics and his support for Charter 77 and to Czech dissidents as early as 1977, “he responds to criticisms of the town hall.
According to citizens who are used to the name, however, it is useless or even illogical: “If it serves visitors to Prague, I would make the name even longer. People will look for a park in Hládkov, not a chachar. (…) you just went through this to the fullest, “comments Jaroslav Nohejl. “Was it wrong in Hládkov that everyone could say it?” He pauses.
Filip Drápal, a spokesman for the Regional Organizer of Prague Integrated Transport (ROPID), said that one of the reasons for the renaming was that the Hládkov stop was located in Myslbekova Street, while the Myslbekova stop was located in Hládkov Street.
