Outside, the glass façade shimmers with green colors, the subdued and spacious interior favors science at the tender, encouraging the promotion of agritourism.
The history of this building goes back to 2005, when an architectural competition was announced. The decision was won in 1996 – the project of the Kuryłowicz & Associates studio won. There is no money to complete the whole, so the investment was divided into two stages. Life on the Dobra side, opposite the University Library. But it was only 1/3 of the property. Employees and students have waited for a decade for health.
On the policy of continuation, which made progress during the achievement on Thursday, the ceremonial opening of the Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Alojzy Nowak. He recalled the merits of his predecessors, Prof. Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow and prof. Marcin Pałysa also appreciated the role of the state. – Previous governments of funds, ten funds have not been taken – almost billions have been earmarked for the control of the “University of Warsaw 2016-2027” program, in which there is no public investment.
Moving during the year of operation
They did not wait for the vacation, which is customary for such operations, to move out. Official old old old device at the old station at the station. – one of the main reasons was that we are open to help for students, employees and staff from Ukraine. We wanted the old building of the Faculty of Applied Linguistics of the future to be inhabited by about 120 Ukrainian families for three or four years, explained Rector Nowak. – However, the works will be slowed down, because it will not have the planned one one day – he admitted.
The Dean of the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, Magdalena Olpińska-Szłko, assured that the divisions at the level during the year of operation take place “without harm to students, employees, and the timetable”. – Thank you to thank our community for making an amazing act in recent community members. In less than a week, she took the equipment, furniture, documents and moved from Szturmowa to Dobra. If you would ask me no if this is feasible, I would say no. It turned out that we managed to get the weekend so great that we managed to do it right, she said.
So far, not everything is finished, for example a multimedia room with a folding auditorium for 150 people is waiting for audiovisual equipment, so multimedia is only in name.
Roof garden, underground bicycle parking
The building is huge: four overground and two underground levels. As it was calculated, there are 92 teaching sales rooms, 70 administrative rooms, 39 research and development rooms, seven classrooms, as well as common spaces, social space for employees, a library and a reading room. In didactics, the first floor was reached, thus administering the second, responding to the federation of master workers. The ground floor has a function that may be a leader, which may be generated by philologists, but it will also organize itself, which is a new type (it is gastronomic). One minus one, among others cloakroom and library warehouses.
Inside, it is bright, thanks to the glazing of the entire walls from the side of Lipowa Browarna and four courtyards (one under the roof). Inside the wall, the white and gray of concrete construction elements. Ten subdued climates, broken with a new yellow color, were achieved in the spaces arranged, as before, after a rest. But the stairs are also yellow. Underground, located in a garage, which, in addition to parking, also has space for 120 bicycles.
Like its neighbors from Powiśle – the University Library and the Copernicus Science Center – the building has a public roof garden. They create flowers, grasses, shrubs, and there is also a plan for a herb garden. There are benches, but you can also set up on lawns. It will take two years for the final effect, but now delle 1960 is taking place. From the top they buy beautiful views of the rooftops of Powiśle, Prague, the Old Town, and you can also see the tops of the Palace of Culture and Science and skyscrapers in the center.
Philological dreams, architectural dreams
The building is adapted for people with disabilities and uses ecological technologies (heat pumps, photovoltaic panels, watering the garden with rainwater). Chief designer prof. Ewa Kuryłowicz emphasized that Dobra 55 is a project in which she used training, but also a lecturer.
– In ours, founded by my husband, it belonged to a group of employees, which is a part of the architecture, at the moment there are three of us. Due to the quick connection with the academic world, working on opportunities for quick achievement: we have put here all the dreams of how a building that has a didactic application should function. There are philological dreams here, but also architectural dreams – she said.
