Venice – Munich Cycle Route, the way of Friendship
Put an itinerary between three countries, put a bike, put a different holiday, the result is this: the Venice – Munich or Munich – Venice cycle path whatever you want to call it the result doesn’t change. We pass three countries, three different climatic zones, from the temperatures of the Alpine to the Mediterranean zones, 560 kilometers and 3,000 meters of elevation gain, and if you are not sufficiently trained you can use the bus services or numerous ones in some stretches and if the bike should have problems along the way there are specialized points where to turn.
Path
If you start from Munich the journey goes through the Brennero, Val Pusteria and Cortina d’Ampezzo and then descend to Venice, in a succession of paths along existing cycle paths all marked with the name of the cycle path. You go through the Inn cycle path and small romantic towns like Bad Toelz, Schwaz, Bressanone And Treviso. Among the views that can be enjoyed are those of Lake Tegernsee, the Sylvenstein Dam in Bavaria, Lake Achensee in Tyrol and the Isar River. But if the cycle path is not enough, you can also visit the nearby valleys such as the Wipptal areas, the Cadore valley surrounded by the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the lake of Santa Croce before arriving at the Adriatic Sea. Furthermore, there is the possibility of connecting to other cycle paths such as the via Claudia Augusta or the river Drava cycle path.
A cycle trip to do in spring until autumn, during the winter it is impractical due to snowfalls and bitter temperatures. https://www.muenchen-venezia.info/it/
To know
If you haven’t seen it yet Venice or Monk, this is the right time. So come on Innsbruck, Hall, Valle Isarco, Plan de Corones, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Lake Santa Croce, Belluno, Treviso.
Exist east variant and west variant, in fact, in a couple of sections the cycle path divides, but then rejoins. If you start from Venice or its surroundings you can start from Mestre or from Cavallino Treporti (from here the km become 630), and then reconnect before Treviso. In Germany, the path back forks and then the only one just before Munich: those who go west pass through Lake Sylvenstein and the city of Bad Tölz, those who go east go through Lake Tegern.
Also keep in mind that if the cycle path is well signposted almost everywhere, in some places you have to look at the map for the lack of signs.
