Ukraine has joined the European Migration Network as an observer.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Hakobyan during the international conference “Solidarity of the EU with Ukraine: protection of people fleeing the war”, informs press service of the Ministry of Internal AffairsUkrinform reports.
“We are pleased to receive a letter from European Commissioner Ilvi Johansson agreeing to Ukraine’s participation as an observer in the European Migration Network,” Hakobyan said.
The Deputy Minister explained that, guided by the European Migration Network, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has received effective migration flows.
She also told foreign colleagues about the steps taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine at the national level to combat human trafficking during Russia’s war against Ukraine.
He also notes that a 24-hour situation center has been set up in the Migration Police Department with the involvement of regional units.
In this case, the Coordination Headquarters for the Protection of Children’s Rights in Martial Law was established, which includes migration policy, social service, the Ministry of Social Policy, and the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The Telegram also created a “Beware” chatbot, through which citizens can learn about the risks of human trafficking, rules of safe employment, contact agencies that provide assistance in Ukraine and abroad, forms of human trafficking and legislation.
It is specified that together with the cyber police and mobile operators, SMS disconnection was organized for citizens traveling abroad with emergency contacts of the service, IOM offices and diplomatic missions of Ukraine.
The European Migration Network is a network of organizations dealing with migration issues in the EU Member States and Norway. The main goal of the European Migration Network (EMN) is to select, share and analyze information on asylum and migration.
This network prepares annual reports, research on various topics, responds to requests from EMN member states, organizes conferences and participates in other activities within the agreed program work.
