Toulouse: in Pech-David, an ephemeral restaurant for this summer
Belvedere over the Pink City, Pech-David must be redeveloped with the arrival of the cable car. An ephemeral restaurant will open this summer and a pedestrian link with Rangueil station has been created.
The highest point in Toulouse at 260 meters in height, the Butte de Pech-David overlooks the Garonne, offers a wide panorama over part of the city, the plain and the Pyrenees in good weather. And yet, this exceptional site is unknown to Toulouse residents who probably don’t even know how to get there. With the arrival of Téléo, the promontory becomes easily accessible. Just get off at Rangueil-Louis-Lareng station to reach on foot, in twenty minutes, by a newly created path, the belvedere which will thus experience a new destiny.
In connection with the arrival of the cable car, the town hall is working on a redevelopment of Pech-David. A diagnosis of biodiversity was carried out in order to draw up a guide plan for the development, indicates Fella Allal, mayor of the district, who already mentions two orientations: the resumption of pedestrian walkways and the securing of the surroundings of the cliff. An orientation table should also be installed.
“Not a nightclub”
In this context, another project will redesign the use of the place: the creation of an ephemeral restaurant from June to mid-September. The project is well advanced. The call for tenders has been launched and a winner chosen. The restaurant should therefore see the light of day, near the water tower, this summer. At the town hall, we prefer the expression ephemeral restaurant to that of guinguette because, as the district mayor explains, “we will be very vigilant about the tranquility of local residents. It won’t be a nightclub. Pech-David is indeed already a gathering place taken at the end of the day and in the evening, resulting in noise and other nuisances. This Sunday, a BAC patrol arrested a dealer. Last year, the town hall put the kibosh on the electronic music concerts it authorizes. Only one should take place this summer.
