Timor was ″the biggest cause″ of Portugal in democracy
On the second of a three-day visit to Timor-Leste, the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, praised the Timorese people again and appealed to those of the then President Jorge Sampaio to affirm that Timor-Leste was “the greatest cause of Portugal alive in democracy”.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was invited to speak, this Friday, at the Timorese Parliament, at the solemn session commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. To thank the “very honorable head of generosity of the Portuguese State, who declared that the cause of Timor Our best of Portugal: “Then, our will to fight for an Eastern cause”.

On the sidelines of the inauguration of the new Portuguese embassy in Dili, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa Oriented to the work of the Business Association of Women of Timor-Leste, whose president, Hergui Fernandes Alves, thanked him for “empowering and encouraging women in all aspects”.
